Resonance breathing
About five and a half breaths a minute, in and out evenly. A slow, steady rhythm for focus.
How to do it
- Breathe in through your nose for about five and a half seconds.
- Breathe out for the same length.
- Keep going for about five minutes, without pauses.
When it helps
When you want to settle into focused work or calm down before thinking something through. Breathing at about this pace is often called resonance or coherent breathing.
Good to know
- Keep the breath smooth, like a slow wave.
- In the app the picture and haptics keep the pace, so there is nothing to count.
Hold My Chaos guides you through it with a calm visual and gentle haptics. Coming soon to iPhone.
Other techniques
Breathing exercises are not medical treatment. If you feel dizzy or unwell, stop and breathe normally.
